Becoming a perfectionistic adolescent: Perceived parental behaviors involved in developmental trajectories of perfectionism

Perfectionism is a pervasive and prevalent personality disposition with high implications for psychological maladjustment. Adolescence represents particularly relevant period the development of perfectionism, perceived parental behaviors have been shown to play an important part. Yet, so far only few longitudinal studies investigated role risk protective in perfectionism adolescents. Examining sample 744 adolescents ( M age = 15.2 years), present study developmental trajectories self-oriented, socially prescribed, other-oriented over four waves spaced five six months apart. Results growth mixture modeling showed that self-oriented followed three (low decreasing; medium stable) as did prescribed stable; increasing; stable). Other-oriented low increasing).
